Media Cart Selects Interactive Edge as Technology Partner for Its Breakthrough Point of Sale Solution Worldwide

New York, NY – February 1, 2007 Interactive Edge, award-winning provider of data analysis and presentation solutions, and Media Cart, today announced its flagship product, XP3® Suite, has been selected by Media Cart Holdings Inc. to provide data management, analysis and presentation behind its revolutionary MediaCart™ System, an in-store interactive advertising medium built directly into shopping carts.

MediaCart and XP3: Solving Major Problems for Consumer Goods Marketers
MediaCart was designed to solve two important problems for consumer goods manufacturers and retailers:
  • Over seventy percent of brand purchase decisions are made at the retail point of purchase. Unfortunately, marketers have been largely unsuccessful in reaching the shopper at the time they are making their buying decisions.
  • Every year consumer goods manufacturers and retailers invest billions of dollars in marketing their brands, then struggle with how to reliably measure returns on that investment.

The MediaCart system, backed by XP3’s data management, analysis and visualization capabilities, uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to manage and track every MediaCart location in the store. As each cart navigates the store, marketing messages are displayed at precise locations and the cart’s traffic patterns are tracked. The system is tied to the retailer’s point-of-sale checkout system, which enables the reporting of product purchase data.  In addition to gathering data, advertisements can be delivered at specific in-store locations, or even multiple locations.

Paid advertising messages for specific products appear on a high-resolution video display. Consumers can locate brands, check prices and scan right from their shopping cart. Marketers can become an important part of the shopping trip by presenting their brand value at the right place, at the exact moment that consumers are making their purchase decisions.
