A new concept for normalizing complex semi-structured data sources

While SSIS provides methods for extracting data from many different data sources, it does not include out-of-the box ability to normalize data from flexible semi-structured data sources such as typical enterprise Excel and CSV reports and worksheets. Data sources like these often feature variable headers and footers, multi-level nested sub-pages as well as deeply de-normalized flexible structures. Today SSIS developers spend days hand-coding ETL scripts tailored to the specific patterns of such data sources.
DataDefractor presents a new concept for data normalization based on flexible schema definition rules. With the help of its example-driven user interface a data integration developer can map out the complex schema of a semi-structured data source within minutes. Once defined, the schema is used by the DataDefractor normalization engine to process the data source and output a fully normalized data stream to the SSIS pipeline. A schema can be stored and reused repeatedly against new instances of data sources that feature the same flexible structure.
DataDefractor is tightly integrated with SSIS and supports both 32-bit and 64-bit editions of this ETL platform. With its ease of use DataDefractor further streamlines what has traditionally been an obstacle to the successful completion and maintenance of internally developed data management and data integration solutions.
