These days, you’d be hard pressed to find a job that doesn’t require you to use Excel in at least some manner. Take a look at any job listing website and you will see almost every role requires some level of proficiency in Excel, which might not come easy to many people.

In order to efficiently work with and make sense of the increasing amount of data you use at work, you cannot overlook the importance of Excel. Whether you are just a beginner or a seasoned veteran, there are always things you can learn to help you leverage Excel more effectively.

Here are a few tips that will help you become an Excel expert:

1. Create shortcut menu

Did you know that you can create any number of shortcuts that will allow you to perform the operations you most frequently use in one click?  All you have to do is click on File, go to Options, and choose Quick Access Toolbar. Then select all the shortcuts that will make your life easier

2. One click to select all

To highlight all of the data for you to paste somewhere else later on, all you need to do is click on the corner icon right near the top of the first row and column of the spreadsheet. This will automatically highlight everything that you have there.

3. Shift between files

If you’re working in multiple files that all contain information you need to use, it can be a real pain to navigate between your spreadsheets. Instead, you can easily shift between the different spreadsheets by holding down the Control and clicking the Tab button to access all of your files and move between them freely.
